A couple of weeks ago I went to the South of France with my friend Sophie (also from Brisbane!). We stayed in Nice for the first half of the week, which turned out to be a great base from which to explore the whole French Riviera. There are more photos than usual for this post because I took these shots over a few days, so I will add a caption to them where necessary to explain a little bit about where they were taken. Also, if any of you are looking for a hostel in Nice, I would recommend the Villa St Exupéry (the “Beach” NOT the “Gardens” location – there are two), because it’s literally 5 minutes from the beach and right in the middle of the main town. The hostel also includes free breakfasts, cheap yummy dinners and activities like free walking tours etc.
Place Masséna, the main square.
Fontaine du Soleil.
Next few shots – details from the famous fruit and flower market.
The view over the markets in Old Town Nice.
Nice’s huge war memorial (the photo doesn’t do it justice) carved out of a rocky cliff overlooking the harbour.
