Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge

After leaving Heron Island we flew up the coast to Cairns before driving about 1.5 hours north again to a place called Julatten. My parents are keen amateur birdwatchers, so they had always wanted to visit the Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge, an eco-friendly haven for ornithological enthusiasts (I think it’s famous in birdwatching circles). Knowing close to nothing about birds I just came along for the ride, but the owners Carol and Andy knew so much about the surrounding ecosystem it turned into an incredibly informative and enjoyable experience. Not to mention the location is stunning, which makes for beautiful photographs of the Queensland Wet Tropics.
