Hever Castle, Kent

I apologise for the lack of uploads recently – I’ve been really busy with applications/interviews and temping so I haven’t had that much spare time to go out and explore. But a couple of weekends ago I did get the chance to visit Hever Castle in Kent, which was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn and William Waldorf Astor’s early 20th century labour of love. Not only is the castle and estate in excellent and beautiful condition, but the multimedia guided tour of the castle is incredibly informative. This tour was one of the highlights of the day for me, as it took you through the history of the castle from the story of Anne Bolyen, Henry VIII and his six wives right through to the Astor’s 20th century restoration. For history enthusiasts and photographers this place really is a must-see.
