I wasn’t going to upload this blog post for another week or so but then I realised this pretty pink venue fits perfectly with Valentine’s Day – so here we go!
I’ve wanted to visit sketch ever since I heard about it when I moved to London over a year ago and my wish finally came true thanks to @meanderingmacaron and the lovely sketch team. I think this restaurant is most famous for its pink Gallery space but I didn’t realise that sketch is actually spread over two huge floors and there are multiple rooms to choose from depending on your mood! The first photo below is the Parlour area, where we sat and waited for our afternoon tea table to be ready. Then we were led downstairs past the Glade (the second photo), which I absolutely have to come back and visit. Apparently you can have afternoon tea here as well so I think I’ll definitely do that another time.
But the main event is obviously the sketch Gallery. This place is so surreal: you’re hit with an almost overwhelming amount of pink but when you look closer (and you’ll be able to see this in my photos below), you can see hundreds of little drawings with captions lining the walls. Some of these are funny, some of them are thought-provoking and some of them could even be a little bit creepy but I think it’s the perfect foil to the sugary sweet pinkness of the room.
The afternoon tea itself was delicious – my favourite had to be the mini truffled grilled cheese sandwiches, which came wrapped in paper and ribbon. I also loved the crockery – our teapot said “ghosts”, our milk jug said “dreams” and our sugar bowl said “it’s ok”, but apparently this changes from table to table.
I hope you enjoy perusing the photos below and if you get the chance, you absolutely have to visit sketch!
I’ve also included a little outfit of the day with the links to what I’m wearing down below. My dress was from Missguided, bag from Zara and boots from ALDO (these were from last winter though so I’ve included a similar pair below). Thanks again to @meanderingmacaron for taking these shots!
